Animal Love

It was neat to watch the transformation of two sisters who were arguing when they realized that Chippy, our squirrel, had arrived.  Animals can bring out the best in us.  Especially when they are small and cute!  Chippy has such personality, he comes to the back door every day and looks for us.  He stands up on his back legs and puts his hands to his chest as if to say, "Where are my nuts?"   Having animals around is a great learning tool.  They see how the animals behave.  They learn animal kindness.  NO, it is NOT ok to squeeze the cat.  If you run screaming at the squirrel, he'll run away.
Our guinea pigs Twister and Lenny are brave.  They have adjusted to the kids being in the yard.  The pigs aren't a scared of them as they used to be.   When they get frightened they  run back into the garden in the left of the photo.  The kids know that is the place to drop the fresh  lettuce from the garden.  We grow it just for the piggies.
We play "Where's Chloe?"  He or she who finds her first gets to pet her first.  This time she was on the entertainment center.
This guy learned that we will throw fallen apples over the fence for him.  The doe and 2 fawns learned that also.  The kids learned to freeze when they see the deer.  That way we can watch them as they meander down to the lake.  Animals can teach us empathy and love.  Great lessons for children!♥♥
