Group Sorting

We did a group project yesterday.  This activity is meant to get the kids to work together while adding a bit of movement and a change of scenery for their skill building.  To begin, I prepared ahead of time three poster boards with one tree drawn on each.
The kids got to color the trees for a bit.  It just so happened that I had three trees and three preschoolers.
Next, the kids were each given a paper bag with their name on it.  These would hold the tissue paper apples that they would create!
On each tree, I drew an apple.  One yellow, one green and one red.
The kids were also given yellow, green and red tissue papers.
Their job was to tear pieces of the tissue paper and ball them up into apples.  They loaded all three colors into their bags. :)
See?
Finally, it was time for the kids to pull out one apple at a time and add it to the correct tree.   It was really fun for them to create LARGE art.  I helped with the glue stick.
It was busy fun!  The kids were engaged, they were politely excusing themselves to scoot into where they needed to go. It was a fun change.
The only rough part was that the kids each wanted to claim one for themselves to take home.   I had to remind them that these trees would stay here so we can all look at the wonderful teamwork art that they created.
♥♥♥Happy Friday the 13th!♥♥♥
