We have been counting to sixteen all month! My goal is to have the kids familiar with numbers 1-20 by the end of our preschool year. If they can't remember it, that's ok. We are still counting together and being introduced to the numbers.
Want to make counting FUN? Give the kids some playdough and have them sculpt some numbers. We created the number 16.
Next, we created 16 playdough balls and attempted to stack them into a giant playdough snowman. They quickly learned that it might be difficult..
Hmmm...
A-ha! Squish the balls down, they will stay!! Victory! Also, I am victorious in my paperwork drowning attack. Complete. Thank you God for the calm that came over all of the kids at Henle House yesterday! They played so nicely together for a free day while I worked on the computer. I am so grateful for that- they were just wonderful. Don't forget to thank God for the little things in your every day tasks. He has planned all of it out just for YOU. I am thanking God this morning for my hot coffee, I replaced my lost travel mug. Happy Thursday!♥♥♥
Today I am buckling down and hope to complete the required paperwork updates. So far I have rewritten my Parent Handbook, added a Staff Policies Handbook, Program Operations Handbook, Health Practices Handbook, and today I will be busting out a Disaster Preparedness Handbook. For goodness sake. I am drowning in paperwork, and my daily operations are suffering. This is hindering my creative abilities! The photo above is the new checklist that my licensor will bring with her when she surprises me with a visit. I have gone through each page and made sure that I am in compliance with all of it. That makes me feel good! There is a light at the end of this tunnel. Thank you God!
No paint or glue today... just type type type.. copy, paste.. print.. email... file. I think I am good at organizing. Next Tuesday is my final training class as far as these changes are concerned. They will be giving us 16 new forms, several of which will need to be posted in our businesses. Not so in-home feeling anymore. OK.
I have been attempting to come up for air. We brought the guinea pigs outside for a total of 5 minutes on a sunny day. They love to go into the garden!
Lenny was fierce, and immediately logged a tulip, causing his removal from the garden. Note to self- wait until tulips are done blooming before allowing the pigs in the garden. ♥ Happy Wednesday!♥♥♥

I forgot to blog yesterday- I was in a sunny day induced coma. :) I want to share with you the eggs that the kids decorated last week. Those egg dyeing kits usually come with a wax crayon that is hard to use and hard to see when you are using it. We got out our regular crayons to create the same effect, only with color!
They are old enough to do this themselves now!
This was great for writing names on eggs. :)

We created fruit loop necklaces and added a plaque to remind them of a miracle. Luke 24:6 says, " He is not here: he is risen!.." Can you imagine that for just a minute? What they must've thought right at that moment. After discussing this with the children, we decided that Jesus needs a superhero cape. (Chuckles..) Kids, I love what they say. He always has on his super hero cape in my mind. Jesus has saved me, and I do not deserve it one bit.
I chose this project because it takes a while to get all of those fruit loops onto the string and I really wanted to stress what we were talking about. It can be hard to get young children to understand, but I think they get it. Maybe..
This is the morning routine. Look at our precious little Chippy, I wish I could just wrap him up like a baby and carry him around. He is just so cute. Smudge is going crazy- he darts his face into the glass all of the time trying to get Chippy, who doesn't mind at all because we are HIS people, not the cats.. What a brave little squirrel. We created some rabbit ears to wear yesterday. The kids colored and glued some small eggs onto two strips of construction paper that were stapled together.
Next, they glued some pink onto some white ears to create just the right look. We used springy colors!

To create some simple makeshift baskets for them to carry, I just hole punched some plastic cups and added pipe cleaners as handles. Kids like to carry things, so this was fun for them just to have. They asked me to put their afternoon snack inside of the baskets for them.
These eggs are stuffed full of stickers and balloons. I didn't want to cause candy overdose at Henle House. I usually do EVERY YEAR. Maybe I'm a curmudgeon this year.. lol I suppose I get tired of the whole easter bunny thing being thrown at all of the kids everywhere. It's about Jesus! So we did the egg thing yesterday and are continuing our talk about Jesus and the amazing gift that He gave us.

Yesterday I had the day off, so I don't have any fun projects to share with you this morning. It was beautiful outside. I sat and felt the heat for a while. It was glorious! My grandmother who lives in Utah is turning 75 this year. I am counting down the days because her birthday is in August, and Utah is so hot in August. I will be hopping on a plane and heading there to celebrate and see some family. I am going to lay in the sun every opportunity that I get. No joke! There is nothing quite like feeling a desert heat, I miss that.
Somebody has made it his goal in life to go outside. We can't stop him anymore, so with caution, he has been out. Not sure I feel good about it, but I'd rather help him do what he wants carefully, rather than him taking off and getting lost. We like to keep our back door open in the summer. It would be impossible to keep Smudge contained. He hopped the fence and we had to call him home. He's a great cat, and actually came.
Frolicking in happiness, he was chasing bugs and running across the grass in cat bliss. ♥
Steph wanted to dye her hair. Just like Smudgie, I'd rather help her than let her destroy it with something awful.. so I helped. I always said I wouldn't let my daughter dye her hair, but I dye mine. I also have tattoos. I guess I just have to teach her to be responsible when making choices. She thought out a color for several months, and when we were shopping for it, we made sure to take note on a color that matched her natural color, just in case the red was too much. No tattoos, Steph. Not until you are 18.
In my bliss, I managed to get this front garden cleaned out and weeded. It was FULL of moss. It's hard to tell, but there are a lot of perennials coming up this year. How exciting! I went to Home Depot to pick up some cap pavers to finish the border on this garden, but left my favorite Starbucks travel mug there. :( Back to cold coffee this morning. I will have to rush out and replace that mug. Gardening makes me so happy. I love to just stand and look at the gardens and note the changes. It's a great time to thank God for this day. Lots of changes are happening in the Henle House lately. My handsome hubby started two new jobs, and I am saying goodbye to one of mine. He is now learning about and creating mill work, and also a part time youth pastor at our church. My hubby becoming a youth pastor means that we are busy as ever! It's a good busy, and we welcome it with open arms and thankful hearts. The extra busy means that I need to let go of the Partylite business. It wasn't flourishing anyway because I just can't dedicate time to it, and I am not good at sales. So I learned something new about myself. Time to move forward.
Meanwhile, look what I did to Stephanie's hair! She loved it, so do I.
Smudge snuggled up with a stuffed animal rat yesterday. I suppose it's better than Chippy, whom he watches for daily.
This was a pie eating contest at church with the youth group. I didn't want to do it, (pudding at 4AM..) but I got competitive when someone yelled "Go!"
Shortly after my victory, I realized it wasn't victory AT ALL because I now had to eat another pie in the finals.... oops.. LOL We had a wonderful time with the kiddos. Today I have the day off! God is so good, I am still recovering from our night of no sleep. I will actually take a nap today. ♥ Happy Monday!
